Ched Mendoza, Masters Intern

My name is Ched Mendoza and I am a Gilbert, Arizona native. I obtained my undergraduate degree in exercise science from Arizona State University, and after working in the physical therapy and rehabilitation field for a few years, I decided to pursue my graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I am working to complete this degree at Grand Canyon University.

My approach to therapy includes solution-based therapy, client-centered therapy and logotherapy, and I am also able to incorporate elements of physical fitness and exercise. I’m particularly interested in men’s health, spiritual warfare and affliction, post-traumatic stress disorder, and anxiety and depressive symptoms. I work with adults of all ages, and adolescents from age 13 and up. I also speak Tagalog, the language of the Philippines.

When I’m not doing therapy…

I have a beautiful wife and daughter who bring joy to my life every day. When I am not spending time with them, you can often find me enjoying a cup of coffee paired with a good book in hand. I also enjoy staying active through exercise and driving up to northern Arizona for spontaneous day trips.

Mental healing doesn’t have to be complicated!

With the right support and guidance, we can navigate this journey together towards a healthier, more fulfilling life.

David Edwards, LPC, CSAT, Owner

I know what it’s like to struggle and need help…

That’s why I’ve done therapy myself.

And therapy helped me gain victory over my struggles.

I’ve sat in that chair and poured out my problems as I sought to understand myself and why I do the things I do.

I’ve wrestled with anxiety and addictive behavior. As a husband, father, and business owner, I’ve dealt with many challenges that come along with all these things. I’ve benefitted greatly from the support of my friends and therapists.

Some of my educational and professional background…

I received my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Divine Mercy University in 2019 and my license to practice in Arizona in 2020. I am also a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT), and have completed Internal Family Systems (IFS) level 1 training.

I’ll bring all that knowledge to the table, but none of it is as important as what you’ll bring to the experience. When you sit down with me, you can be assured that I will honor and respect you and where you are. My goal is to uncover the things inside you that will help you flourish in life.

I have worked with adolescents and adults in inpatient and outpatient settings, dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, and compulsive behavior. I have a special focus on working with Catholic/Christian men dealing with unwanted or addictive sexual behavior.

As a practicing Catholic, I bring a unique perspective into treatment, integrating my own experiences as a Catholic with what I have learned through my practice as a therapist.

When I’m not doing therapy…

You can usually find me spending time with my wife and daughters, working on my latest woodworking project in my shop, strumming my guitar, or racing/training for a triathlon.
